New FAA Rules Are Coming!
The FAA is planning to propose rules in the near future that may restrict the use of model aircraft in the National Air Space. (NAS) The AMA has been working with the FAA for the last 2 + years to advocate on your behalf. If you have not kept up to date on the issue, the AMA has abundant information regarding the proposed rules and the AMA activities on the AMA website. The AMA has also arranged a letter campaign to lawmakers and is encouraging all modelers to contact their legislators. If you haven’t yet participated, please go to the AMA website and send a letter to your legislator. The AMA has made it very easy. Just follow the directions on the website. Do it for the future of this great hobby that we all enjoy and keep informed as the process continues.
Jackson Crossing Mall Show
The 2012 Mall Show will be coming up in April at the Jackson Crossing. We will be asking members to bring a model for the static display and to sign up to take a shift manning the booth during the weekend. This is a great time to interact with the community, advertise our club, and solicit new members. It is also helpful if you can provide a 4X6 display card to show the name of the aircraft, the owner, and a little about the airplane. Let’s make sure we support the club in this valuable outreach effort.
Indoor Flying
Indoor flying is in full swing at the Jackson Free Methodist Church on Oaklane just north of Steaks Eatery near Vandercook Lake. There has been a good turn-out each week and will continue through April. There is still time to get in on the fun even if you tried indoor flying yet this year. Give it a shot…..it’s great fun. Or just come out and watch. You’ll get the bug!
IMAC
Set the dates of June 23-24, 2012 aside for this year’s IMAC contest. As a major fund raising event, members should plan to help with the contest. I am going to plan some prep days at the field for any members who may be interested in flying in the contest. I give you tips for preparation, let you know what to expect and help trim out your airplanes to be ready for the contest. The contest is posted on the IMAC website http://www.mini-iac.com for registrations. With the help of the entire club, it will be a terrific money making event.

Bob Harkness has taken over as chairperson of the Field Maintenance Committee. Contact Bob for information about how you can help.
